DEVELOPING SENSITIVITY. A Bible Study.

*Scripture references are in the New King James Version unless otherwise noted.

1. The things of God are more real than anything.

2. The problem is the more our senses are in tune to this realm, the less sensitive we become to things of the Spirit.

3. To be sensitive is to respond or react to something with ease.

4. Our senses are part of our soul; we can be sensitive to the promptings that come from our spirit, or we can be more sensitive to things of this world.

5. God does not lead us outwardly. He leads us inwardly.

Proverbs 20:27. The spirit of man is the candle of the Lord, searching all the inward parts of the belly.

6. Our spirits are God’s flashlight.

7. He will illuminate His ways with our spirit.

8. God’s life in our spirit will give us understanding of His ways.

Job 32:8 (Amplified Bible.) But there is [a vital force] a spirit [of intelligence] in man, and the breath of the Almighty gives men understanding.

9. Since our senses are located in our souls, we need to develop our souls in those things that gratify the Holy Spirit.

Romans 8: 5 -14 (Amplified Bible.) For those who are according to the flesh and are controlled by its unholy desires set their minds on and pursue those things which gratify the flesh, but those who are according to the Spirit and are controlled by the desires of the Spirit set their minds on and seek those things which gratify the [Holy] Spirit.

10. Those who are controlled by the flesh have their minds set on that which pleases the flesh.

11. Those that are controlled by the Holy Spirit have their minds set on that which gratifies the Holy Spirit.

12. The word “gratify” means to “please or satisfy.”

13. If we want to be controlled by the Holy Spirit, we need to set our mind on that which the Holy Spirit desires.

14. Name some things that please the Holy Spirit. Love Joy, Peace, Kindness, Self Control, Obedience, (Fruit of the Spirit.) Anything He leads His people to do.

Verse 6: Now the mind of the flesh, [which is sense and reason without the Holy Spirit] is death [death that comprises all the miseries arising from sin, both here and hereafter], but the mind of the Holy Spirit is life and [soul] peace [both now and forever.]

15. A fleshly-minded person is a person who is more sensitive to the flesh because of his fleshly reasoning.

16. A fleshly-minded person is defined as a person whose mind and reasoning is without the Holy Spirit.

17. This is as a result of a lack of sensitivity to the Holy Spirit.

18. The mind that is controlled by the Holy Spirit is a mind that is controlled by life and peace.

19. The Bible tells us that God leads us by His Spirit, (which is life and peace.)

20. According to Ephesians Chapter 4:18, a person who walks like the World is alienated from the Life of God in their minds. (having their understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the hardening of their heart.)

Verse 7: [That is] because the mind of the flesh, [with its carnal thoughts and purposes,] is hostile to God, for it does not submit itself to God’s Law; indeed, it cannot.

21. A fleshly mind is a mind that is controlled by carnal (worldly) thinking and purposes.
22. A flesh-ruled mind lacks the ability to submit to God’s way of doing things.
23. Galatians Chapter 5:21 speaks about they that do the works of the flesh cannot inherit the Kingdom of God. (Those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.)

I have a problem from the outset though. You have created an antithesis between the things of God and the things of the Spirit, haven't you? How could a person be in tune with the things of God apart from the Spirit of God? How could someone be sensitive to the things of the Spirit apart from being in tune with the things of God?

Isn't the Godhead triune? Don't we react and relate to each member of the Godhead as unique personalities?

Anonymous Anonymous said...

Yes, God is triune, that is, three in one with each of the three being distinct persons. But since they work in perfect harmony with each other equally sharing together the same attributes it seemed to me to be impossible for someone to be in tune with the things of God the Father apart from the God the Spirit. How could one possibly be in tune with God in any way, shape or form without the action of the Holy Spirit?

I bumped into this blog entry and I have to object to someone who sets up a blog seeking feedback and then just buggers off and doesn't even honour the spirit in which it was established. This entry is 6 months old !!!

You guys are so rude. You don't know anythign about anything. Bugger off yourselves - in Jesus name of course.

Sorry, I shouldn't have said that. I was a bot ticked off but that's no excuse.

I also do not understand people who start a blog entry and claim it "to be continued" but don't keep their word and follow through. It has basically been eight months.

Why do people get off making it their personal need to pass comment on whether or not a guy blogs regularly or not. It's none of your business.

You don't have to get all nasty. I was giving my opinion and what gives you the right to ask me about being the king of the hill? Who made you the Queen?

Ed you have to admit that it's rather insensitive to create a blog entry and then promise to continue it only to leave it for almost a year. Why break a promise?

Anonymous Brian M. said...

Don't you guys get it ! This whole blog is probably a test to help everyone in "Developing Sensitivity." HAHA

10:11 a.m.
Anonymous Kyle Rogers said...

If it is a test then it is deceptive because a promise was made and so far broken which is ungodly. Christians should keep their promises even when it hurts (Psalm 15). This is such and old thread despite the promise of i t being continued.

I fully agree. This is pathetic. If we're not faithful in small things then...

I'm passing through but this whole thread is a testament to how dumb ass people can be arguing over a dead blog. Obviously the blog writer is in prison or severely ill or maybe even dead.

I can't believe everyone is still arguing about all this. The world is going to hell in a hand cart and people just waste their time!

Jamie, ever read Matthew 7:1 Judge not or you will be judged yourself...I'm fed up seeing drive-by shootings on blogs so I'm speaking out on this one: you don't know what's up with this blog, maybe the blogger died! So lose the proud arrogant comment as though you're the judge of who's a Christian and who's not.

hey Elaine ever apply Mt. 7:1 to yourself !!! Sheesh eva heard of speaking the truth in love. Give it a rest. And get my name right please.

I personally don't find much sensitivity in this blog, it's blogger or these respondents. Whoever Mr. Grizzly is he should make an appearance and the police this blog. This blog entry is promised to be continued...but nothing had happened. Christian's shouldn't lie like that.
